Tabitha and Matthew Engagement: One Luftballon

Engagements, InspirationWedding Creativo Photography

Tabitha and Matthew's spring engagement session reminded me of Albert Lamorisse's classic 1956 French film The Red Balloon.  It is a simple but sweet movie about a boy and a balloon that seems to have a personality of its own. There is almost no dialogue, so you don't really need to understand French to appreciate the film.

from criterion.comI suppose a similar notion is true with couples in love. There is an unspoken language of understanding and appreciation.

If you ever wrote notes on your sneakers in high school, then maybe you will also like having secret messages or words on the bottoms of your wedding shoes?  They can be inspiring, sweet, or just plain fun, and make for unique pictures.  You can make your own designs, or find some wedding-themed ones that are ready-made to stick on your shoes.  Bride Stefanie sported these cute "I Do" gems under her souls.

Some couples face a dilemma when considering the processional.  For various reasons, sometimes the tradition of father escorting bride is not a viable option.  While there are many solutions to how to make the grand entrance, many brides and grooms are choosing to walk down the isle together and start their marriage arm in arm.  Renee and Jason did this at their intimate wedding at Mrs Murphy & Son's Irish Bistro.

Happy anniversary to Daniella and Marin who celebrated their first year of marriage over the weekend!  She is such a stunning bride and we are not the only ones who think so.  Cork Catering also spotted this picture on our website and liked it so much that they are using it in their ad in the June issue of Chicago Social Brides.  See if you can spot it....like a Where's Waldo game!

Jeannie and Nick actually met at a Halloween party, and wanted to somehow incorporate that significance into their wedding.  They had the brilliant idea to transform their reception at the Knickerbocker Hotel into a masquerade ball, which was a big hit with their guests.  They hid Venetian masks under the chairs and about midway through the reception the groom announced the surprise theme during his thank you speech.  It was certainly a night everyone will remember.

Creative bride Jeannie found inspiration for her reception in writer Truman Capote's masquerade parties from the 1950s and 1960s:

Nissa and Mike got married at the Cuneo Mansion and Gardens and not too long after their wedding they moved to South Korea where they are journalists and teaching! This is one of our favorite "kiss" portraits with the beautiful mansion in the background.  The estate was recently donated to my alma mater and is now part of Loyola University.

All this month we've been looking back at some favorites from years past as we celebrate three decades in business this year.

Wedding Creativo Daily Photo: 05.29.2010 - Memorial Day Weekend

We hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day Weekend, and that we all take a moment to remember why we observe this holiday.  In honor of all who serve in the military (and this weekend, we remember those who gave their lives), today our Daily Photo features husband and wife Iraq veterans, Margaret and Zach.  Their family, with many Lieutenants, Colonels, Majors and Generals really knew how to celebrate a great day in this couple's life. It was an honor for us to photograph their wedding at Holy Name Cathedral and reception at Maggiano's.  Thank you to all the brave people who serve, past and present!
