A favorite moment right before Gabrielle and her grandfather entered Howes Chapel on Northwestern University campus. Grandpa walked through the same chapel doors with Gabrielle's mom years ago. So sweet.

Today we feature another necklace, but this one comes from ancient times. The Greek and Egyptian wedding of Anna and Rami combined their rich heritage and wedding traditions from both sides. The ceremony was performed in three languages and the reception was filled with lots of dancing and historic customs, including this beautiful coin necklace worn by the bride.

Very shiny. Very sparkly. Like Rainman, we're drawn to take pictures of the the lovely sparkly and shiny details of our brides' dresses and accessories. Many visitors to our studio comment on this beautiful necklace that bride Anne wore on her wedding day. It is unique, yet a classic, and one of our favorites as well.

For years I had no idea what a Vegemite sandwich was (thanks Men at Work), until we were lucky enough to photograph the Australian + American wedding of Jeremy and Michelle at the Adler Planetarium.

I guess I missed this episode of Pop Up Video, which explains the mystery that is Vegemite.
Christian and Claudia were also a couple that knew how to party. They held one of our most memorable receptions ever by including guests in the entertainment by giving everyone the chance to be the lead singer of Live Band Karaoke. Needless to say, this reception rocked!

We were sad to hear Barn of Barrington closed a few months ago. It was such a cool event space. The ring boy at this wedding hammed it up for us around the carousel horses.

We had to blow the dust off this one going back a few decades. What a cool limo driver, and those boots are a hoot. We always meet interesting people working at weddings.

Willow was actually an intern at our studio, in what was a busy summer for her as she finished up school and planned TWO weddings - one here that we had the honor of photographing, and one with her family in Utah. As a taletned and wonderful young woman, Willow really set the bar for all of our interns! We are glad that she stays in touch often so that we can keep up with this happy couple now living in Las Vegas.

Creativity was set for warp speed for Elaine and Steve's wedding! We started out the day with a first see at the Belden-Stratford, followed by a fun walk through the zoo where we were lucky enough to have the carousel all to ourselves, before dashing off to A New Leaf for their cocktail-style wedding and reception. With a the groom's binary code ring, brides antique-styled green gemstone ring, totally awesome wedding sneakers, the ceremonial handcufs, wedding pies (instead of cake) by Hoosier Mama Pie Company, with pie topper made by the bride and groom, reception farmer-style auction, rad tunes by Toast and Jam DJs, and so much more....it was a blast!

Becky and Fuad are excellent at yoga, and it is a passion they share. For their engagement session we went to the beautiful Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago where they practice together and Becky also instructs classes. We are looking forward to their Midwestern destination wedding in Michigan later this summer.

This month we are celebrating three decades in business, and are taking a look back at some of our favoite wedding pictures throughout the years.
Our Daily Photo today is one of our all time favorites from the Y2K era (remember when we all thought the computers would crash and nanobots would destroy us all?!?!?...here's Anne on a tractor at her parents' horse ranch home.

For the 13th, we feature a picture from a lucky day we had during Candice and Bob's wedding a few years ago. After their traditional Philippine Catholic ceremony, we stopped at the lake for some bridal party pictures before heading off to their reception at Chicago Marriott Schaumburg. A big summer storm was approaching, so it was very hot and humid. We thanked our lucky stars when this popsicle vendor strolled up. The whole wedding party swarmed him and dug in their pockets to find enough change for sweet relief. He was kind enough to give the bride and groom a couple frozen treats "on the house." Thanks popsicle guy....wherever you are! We also finished with the bridal party portraits and got everyone on the shuttle bus right before the downpour of rain came, so we turned out to be double lucky on this day.

Community and family are paramount to Bruce and Ayanna. It seemed like their entire church parish turned out for their ceremony, and their large families danced all night at the reception held at the Magnificent Mile DoubleTree. Ayanna has kept in touch over the years with updates on her growing family (she's a mommy now), and I even had the opportunity to meet her Girl Scout troup and teach them photography out in Millennium Park.

Vida and Jay have one of those enduring love stories. This Lituanian-born bride actually began her relationship with the groom 12 years before they finally tied the knot at the Lake Shore Country Club in Glencoe, Illinois.

We meet the most interesting people working at weddings. This guy wears a kilt while performing bagpipes at weddings, but you really wouldn't want to give this retired police officer a hard time about wearing a "skirt" on the weekends. :-)
